What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishments since joining Coastal Performance?
Completing the fat loss challenge last year

Since joining Coastal, what is something in the fitness world that you have changed your mind about?
I didn’t realize how important strength training was to achieve an overall fitness level. I always did a lot of cardio, but stopped seeing as many benefits as I got older. Now, the combination of strength, intensity, and nutrition have allowed me to feel more fit than I have in years.
Describe your first day at the gym.
Amanda brought me to HIIT class, and the warm up was so much harder than I thought it would be. Then we had to do a partner workout – poor Amanda had to do all the push ups because I couldn’t do any. But the encouragement and effort from all the participants and trainers was amazing, and I could tell it was an environment that would challenge me to be my best.
What’s something about you that we already don’t know?
I’m a nerd (you actually knew that already), and when I was in high school I named my field hockey stick after a sword from “Lord of the Rings”.
What advice do you have to give to new people that enter Coastal? (Just getting started)
Don’t be intimidated by what others are able to do. Just focus on what you can do, give your best effort, and trust the process. You will be amazed at what you will be able to accomplish.
Who has inspired you in your life and why?
My parents – they always work extremely hard at everything, and have set a wonderful example that nothing is more important than family.
How do you evaluate success?
Success is the ability to define your own goals, be happy with your situation, and the ability to work towards changing it if you aren’t satisfied.
What is your favorite Coastal moment?
First time I did an unassisted pull-up!
How has joining Coastal changed your life?
It has given me more energy, made me healthier and given me the tools to continue to improve my overall fitness. It has given me a much more well – rounded approach to fitness, nutrition, and overall health and energy. As Cathy says, you can’t out train a bad diet!
The faster you run, the sooner you are done.
I think the long term health benefits can’t be overestimated – being able to life an active and healthy lifestyle as we get older is crucial to mental and physical fitness for both Mitch and me. Being surrounded by so many positive and inspiring people all striving to be their best make this environment such an enjoyable experience.
