What do you consider to be your biggest accomplishments since joining?

No question the unassisted pull-up – I never thought I’d be able to do one, now I can do four!

What’s something in the fitness world that you have changed your mind about?

That you can’t cardio-your-way to all of your goals, whether those goals are general fitness or weight loss. Cardio is great but it alone won’t get you to where you want to be.

How do you motivate others?

Reminding them that we’re all in it together – we all have our own challenges and struggles but showing vulnerability helps create camaraderie and ultimately, success.

Who has inspired you in your life and why?

My dad (fellow SGT’er!) – as a retired surgeon, I’ve spent years hearing from his patients and coworkers that he’s kind, patient and caring. While it wasn’t obvious to me until recently, my drive to succeed professionally is ultimately tied to the mission behind the work. I am sure that that comes from being exposed to my dad’s commitment to helping others.

How do you evaluate success?

By taking stock in how I feel – I’m super competitive but mostly with myself, so I measure success by how I feel about an achievement. If I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished, then that’s success in my book.

How has joining Coastal changed your life?

I’m stronger than I’ve ever been (by a lot), in better shape than I was while playing collegiate lacrosse. I’ve been an early AM/pre-work gym goer for my entire adult life but I actually look forward to it now. My SGT mornings very clearly make me a better employee, manager and colleague.

You do you.

I just can’t say enough about the team of trainers at Coastal. As long as you trust the system, they will push you past your own expectations. They are supportive, compassionate and committed to helping you achieve your goals, whatever they might be. I can’t think of a better way to describe Coastal than my ‘Third Place’ – we come from different backgrounds and experiences but the level of support is unmatched. Come for the fitness, stay for the witty banter!
